Climb a fire tower off of Route 9 in Wilmington, Vermont, about half-way between Bennington and Brattleboro.
The fire tower at the peak is one of our favorites. After a quick quarter-mile hike through a lil snow, we felt like we could see all of Vermont. The trail is very well maintained, and has gorgeous views all the way up. The cab at the top is sturdy and comfortable so you can really spend some time up there. Along Route 9 you'll find even more lookout spots and a few covered bridges. We also enjoy stopping in Northshire Brewery in Bennington, and Hermit Thrush Brewery in Brattleboro while we're in Southern Vermont.
